Note: To create this work, for two months I lived as a medieval hermetic mystic, followed the Byzantine "Rules for the Icon Painter" and followed a number of other ritualized strictures on daily behavior intended to induce a fugue state, including no engagement with spoken or written language. All the material in the work was acquired as the result of interpersonal relationships within the artist’s community.
